An Interview with our IT Recruiter, Gabi Ferrero

1. Can you introduce yourself and tell us what is your role at agap2?

My name is Gabi Ferrero, and I'm from Córdoba, Argentina. Since May 2022, I have been living with my family in the Netherlands, specifically in Utrecht (a city that we absolutely fell in love with 😊). Since last August, I have been working at agap2 as a member of the recruiting team.

2. How has your journey at agap2 been during your first year? (Can you share your thoughts on the challenges and achievements during this time?)

It has truly been an unforgettable year. Working at agap2 has provided me with the opportunity to be part of a wonderfully diverse team, exposing me to different cultures and allowing me to become more familiar with the Netherlands and European market. My colleagues, the culture and nice environment at agap2, make my journey very special and was crucial for my adaptation this first year.

3. How would you describe the culture and working environment at agap2?

The culture and working environment at agap2 can be summarized in one phrase: "People First." I genuinely feel that agap2 prioritizes the wellbeing of each employee. It's a place where I feel valued, recognized, and appreciated. The flexibility and open communication make it feel like home. The culture and environment are the things that I’m most proud of.

4. What do you enjoy the most about working and living in the Netherlands?

The diversity is one of the things that I enjoyed the most in the Netherlands, because of the possibility to get to know different people, with their own costumes and mindset. Both my colleagues at agap2 and the people in the Netherlands have warmly welcomed me and my family, making our adaptation to this new environment seamless and enjoyable.

5. What are the key differences you have observed in the tech industry and hiring practices between Argentina and the Netherlands?

One of the differences, that I could notice from my first months in agap2, is that the ability to describe and express your ideas and points of view in a good and simple way, are crucial. Effective communication is highly valued in the technology industry for companies, customers and the market, on the same level as experience and technical knowledge.

6. What are your goals for the upcoming year?

My main goal is to continue contributing to the growth of agap2 in the Netherlands, and being part of this journey is highly motivating for me. At agap2, I feel empowered to share my knowledge, ideas, and experiences, and I am able to adapt them according to the needs of the company and the market. It's a place where I truly feel valued and where I can make a meaningful impact.
